The eighth ranked Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team remain in second place with 1,298 points after day two of the Texas A&M Swimming and Diving Fall Invitational.

"We are in a great place right now," head men's swimming coach Mel Nash said. "Across the board people are swimming well."

To begin the meet, juniors Riley Janes and Nik Tate and seniors Michael Greene and Keven Kehlenbach cruised in to a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:28.41.

In the 100-yard butterfly, the Aggies took the top two spots, with Greene swimming a consideration time of 47.97 and senior David Morrow taking second, also with a consideration time of 48.67.

The 100-yard backstroke proved to be an exciting event. Janes, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, took first place with an automatic time of 47.86. Freshman Matt Rose came in second with a consideration time of 48.97, while junior Patrick Kennedy took third (49.43).

On the three-meter springboard, Jesse Even, a junior from Willis, Texas, took second place with a score of 538.50.

In the final event of the evening the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Morrow, Kennedy, Janes and Kehlenbach took second place with a consideration time of 6:38.13. This time ranks second on the Aggie all-time top-five relay list.

"We only missed the 800-free relay school record by three-tenths of a second, which is an incredible swim at this time of year," Nash said.

The Aggie Invitational will continue Saturday at the Student Rec Center Natatorium. Prelims begin at 11 am, diving prelims start at 1 pm and finals begin at 7 pm. Admission is free. Full results may be found on the official Texas A&M website at www.AggieAthletics.com.
