The Texas A&M Aggies continued preparations for the Sanford Independence Bowl with an hour and a half workout Friday afternoon at Bossier City Parkway High School.
It was the first time this week that the Aggies were able to use the practice facility at PHS because of wet field conditions. A&M coach R.C. Slocum was happy to be able to use the field at PHS after three days at Independence Stadium under restrictive conditions.
"The bowl people have been very cooperative in allowing us to use the stadium this week," Slocum said. "We needed to practice with a surface that would let us get our footing, but they've got the painted logos on the field that we had to stay off of and that really restricts us.
"We've gotten good work despite the elements. The kids and the coaches have worked through it. We dress here (Parkway) so it's just easier for us to get our work done here."
Slocum said that offensive tackle Andre Brooks tried to practice Friday, but was limited. Also defensive lineman Ty Warren was slowed and was not at full speed, but Slocum expects Warren to play against Mississippi State on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Slocum said that offensive tackle Tango McCauley would be leaving Shreveport following Friday's workout to attend the funeral of his grandmother. Slocum expected McCauley to return on Saturday and see action in the game.
As the game draws closer, activities for the team are coming to a close. Friday evening the Aggies were at Pierce Bossier Mall for an autograph session. The Aggies' final public appearance prior to the game will be Saturday for the Boise Minuteman Luncheon at the Shreveport Expo Center.
A&M will face Mississippi State in the Independence Bowl on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 7:00 in a game being televised nationally on ESPN.
