
Aggies Play Host to 48th Border Olympics

The No. 32-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team will play host to the 48th Annual Border Olympics Friday and Saturday at Laredo Country Club.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday for a total of 54 holes. Play will begin at 8 a.m. (CST) each day on the 7,125-yard, par 72 layout.
Joining A&M in the 14-team field will be Baylor, Rice, Texas Tech, Michigan State, Washington State, Tulsa, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas-San Antonio, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Pan American, the Texas junior varsity and Central Oklahoma.
Representing A&M will be senior Ty Cox (Amarillo, Texas/Amarillo HS), junior Casey Cronin (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall HS), sophomore Josh McCoy (Perryton, Texas/Perryton HS), sophomore Sean Gilliland (Killeen, Texas/Harker Heights HS) and freshmen Dwayne Morley (Houston/Stratford HS) and Matt Lindholm (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown HS). Competing as individuals for A&M will be junior Matt Loving (Corpus Christi/Carroll HS) and junior Ryan Tull (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown HS).
A solid performance by the Aggies would all but lock up a bid to the NCAA Central Regional May 18-20 in Victoria, Texas. The Aggies are ranked fifth in the district and must finish in the top eight to receive a bid. Baylor, ranked third, is the only team in the Border Olympics field to rank ahaed of the Aggies in the district.
The Aggies are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate March 21 in Austin.
