Texas A&M's radio network will be enhanced this season giving fans the ability to hear the A&M football radio broadcast at away game stadiums, the addition of a sideline reporter, and an expanded postgame show, the school announced Tuesday.
Already one of the largest collegiate radio networks in the nation, the A&M Radio Network will be making several enhancements to the broadcasts for the 2000 athletic season.
In response to numerous requests from Aggie fans to be able to listen to the A&M broadcasts in away game stadiums, a low wattage transmitter will be on site at the Notre Dame, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and postseason games. Fans will be able to tune into the A&M broadcast on the lower end of the FM band on their personal radios. In locations where the A&M radio network has a local station, the stadium transmitter will not be used.
Bringing fans closer to the action on the field with live updates will be the addition of a sideline reporter for all games. A&M assistant media relations director Steve Miller will be one of the reporters along with a broadcaster to be named later.
An expanded postgame show will be added this season to all home games and to selected away games where facilities for the visiting team and travel will allow the format enhancement. Fans will be able to hear the comments of head coach R.C. Slocum and many of the Aggie players who are requested for postgame interviews by the media. The expanded postgame show will be heard at all home games, at the Notre Dame, Texas and postseason games.
For the 11th straight season, Dave South and Dave Elmendorf will make up the broadcast team.
Each broadcast begins with a pregame show 50 minutes before the scheduled kickoff featuring in-depth analysis on the Aggies and their opponents. During halftime the broadcast switches to the studio in Oklahoma City for scores from around the country, before South and Elmendorf review the first half statistics.
The Texas A&M Radio Network is a division of Clear Channel Communications and questions on affiliates and advertising can be addressed to their offices in Oklahoma City and Nashville.

All of the broadcasts will be available worldwide on the internet at www.AggieAthletics.com.
The No. 24-ranked Aggies will open the season on September 2 against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., in a game that will be nationally televised by NBC Sports.
