Texas A&M men's basketball coach Melvin Watkins knocked off St. Francis (Pa.) Coach Bobby Jones in the West regional final on Wednesday to advance to College Insider's Fashionable Four. The nation's best-dressed coach will be crowned on Sunday.
The Fashionable Four will be discussed on Fox National Sports Report on Friday night.
The No. 1 seed in the original 65-coach field, Watkins will face Rice's Willis Wilson in the second semi-final in Minneapolis. The national runner-up last season, Wilson was the No. 2 seed in the South regional bracket this year and is the only returnee from last year's Fashionable Four. Wilson advanced after upending Alabama's Mike Gottfried on Wednesday.
In the other semifinal in Minneapolis, Cincinnati's Bob Huggins will face former Massachusetts coach Bruiser Flint.
College Insider is a web-based magazine that has become a forum for college basketball fans and coaches. The Runway to the Fashionable Four is in its fourth year, but only the second in tournament bracket form. This season's version has been named "2001: A Fashion Odyssey." The competition can be followed on the magazine's website at www.collegeinsider.com.
