ESPN is seeking cast members for Sidelines, a 13-week series documenting the 2001 Texas A&M football season as told through the eyes and ears of the Aggie faithful, anyone and everyone who follows Texas A&M football. The first of a series of open casting calls throughout the month of July will be held Wednesday at the George Bush Library in conjunction with the 41st-Annual College Station Noon Lions Club I Love America Fireworks and Celebration.
We are looking for a cross-section of individuals whose lives are affected by Aggie football," casting director Francis McIntyre said. "We will have our first opportunity to see many people on Wednesday; however we will conduct interviews throughout the entire month. It's important to remember that Wednesday is the first of many opportunities for people to share their stories with us. By the end of this month-long process we hope to have seen every Aggie who has a story to tell."
Anyone interested in participating in the show this fall may sign up for a casting interview at the Bush Library in the rotunda beginning at 3 p.m. Casting will continue throughout the month. The series premiere will air on October 5.
"Each person has a role to play with the team, as well as a personal story," said Mark Shapiro, vice president and general manager, ESPN Original Entertainment. "Sidelines will see each person grow in character as the season progresses -- a kind of 'soap-umentary.' We'll weave the smaller personal stories together through the bigger story of the progression and fate of the team and its season."
The Fourth of July celebration includes free admission to the George Bush Presidential Library from 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., with headline entertainment on the lawn beginning at 5:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at "dark-thirty" with live patriotic music to be broadcast on MIX 104.7. Parking is free and patrons are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. No alcohol will be permitted.
