Texas A&M Head Football Coach R.C. Slocum welcomed 28 newcomers to Aggieland on Monday. The newcomers will work out twice on Tuesday before taking a full day of academic and compliance meetings on Wednesday.
"This is always an exciting time for these young men and their families," Slocum said. "I think we have a great group of young men and I'm anxious to get started."
Six walkons joined the 22 scholarship freshmen in reporting to campus.
The veteran players report to campus for dinner on Thursday. The first day of full squad workouts is Saturday.
The Aggies open the 2001 season at Kyle Field against McNeese State on Sept. 1 with kickoff slated for 6 p.m.
Fall practices are closed.
