The Texas A&M football team conducted a two hour practice in shorts and shoulder pads Sunday afternoon at the grass practice fields near Kyle Field.
Junior defensive back Terrence Kiel and freshman quarterback Jason Carter left practice early for precautionary reasons related to the 100 degree weather.
"We took a couple of guys in who lost some fluids, got hot and got a little dizzy headed," head coach R.C. Slocum said. "It was just a precautionary thing, there's no real problems. This is the longest practice and the hottest workout we've had so far, but it was just one time today. We got through it with really minimal problems."
Returning to the workout were punter Cody Scates, placekicker Chris Sims and defensive back Jarvis Mays.
Slocum said that Scates and Sims are dual purpose kickers who back each other up, but that wide receiver Greg Porter was again practicing punting and kicking in a back up role.
The Aggies will practice twice on Monday.
A&M opens the season on September 1 against McNeese State at 6 p.m. at Kyle Field.
On Saturday, August 18, the Aggies will welcome fans to Kyle Field for the annual Cingular Photo and Autograph day. The event is free and will begin at 10 a.m.
