The Texas A&M football team drilled for over an hour in full pads Friday evening on the A&M grass practice fields.

After the workout, Aggie head coach R.C. Slocum announced that A&M's leading rusher in 2000, sophomore Richard Whitaker, has suffered a slightly torn meniscus in his knee and is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery. Slocum said Whitaker "will miss 10 days to two weeks" because of the injury. Slocum would not rule out Whitaker being ready for the Aggies' Sept. 1 season-opener against McNeese State at Kyle Field.

In other injury news, preseason All-American center Seth McKinney didn't practice in the evening workout after leaving the morning practice with back spasms. Slocum listed McKinney as day-to-day.

AUTOGRAPH/PHOTO DAY --- The annual Aggie Cingular Wireless Football Autograph/Photo Day will be held at Kyle Field beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. and fans can watch Aggie football highlights on the Jumbotron. The autograph and photo session will end at 11 a.m. TO ACCOMODATE THE AUTOGRAPH/PHOTO DAY CROWD, THE TEXAS A&M SPORTS MUSEUM WILL BE OPEN FROM 9 A.M. TO 1 P.M. ON SATURDAY.
