The Texas A&M football team drilled for an hour and a half on the grass practice fields Monday evening.

After practice Aggie head coach R.C. Slocum announced that true freshman Thomas Carriger has switched sides of the football, at least for the time being.

Carriger, from Skidmore-Tynan High School, came to A&M as a defensive end but is getting a tryout at tight end. The Aggies are down to just one experienced tight end--junior Michael de la Torre--due to the season-ending knee injury suffered by senior Lonnie Madison on the first day of fall camp.

"We’ve moved Thomas Carriger to tight end, but it may not be a permanent thing," Slocum said. "We’re just trying to see if he could help us there because we don’t have a lot of depth at the position."

Returning to practice was senior defensive end Evan Perroni. Missing the evening workout were likely starters Bethel Johnson (groin), Ty Warren (groin) and Michael Mahan (stomach virus).
