The Texas A&M volleyball team climbed two spots to No. 16 in the USA TODAY/AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll, released Monday. The ranking is the highest the Aggies have received since 1999 when they were ranked an all-time high ninth in the final Top 25 Poll.

The Aggies (6-1) moved up two spots after sweeping both Texas-San Antonio and Florida State and falling to then-No. 9 Stanford in four games last week.

Nebraska and Long Beach State remained at No. 1 and 2, respectively. Arizona, Stanford and USC round out the top five.

Four teams from the Big 12 Conference are ranked in the Top 25 and three other Big 12 teams are receiving points. In addition to Nebraska and Texas A&M, Kansas State is No. 22 and Texas stayed at No. 25. Colorado (27), Baylor (29) and Missouri (30) received votes.

A&M opens Big 12 play Wednesday at Oklahoma. Match time is 7 p.m. at the OU Field House. The Aggies return home for a Top 25 showdown against No. 22 Kansas State on Saturday. First serve is at 7 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free volleyball schedule T-shirt.
