The Texas A&M men's golf team carded rounds of 308-295=603 on Monday and is in 13th place after the first two rounds of the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate at Old Memorial Golf Club. The final round will be played on Tuesday.
The Aggies posted the second highest score of the first round, but bounced back in the afternoon round with a seven-over-par 295, led by freshman Tyler Garrett's one-under-par 71. Garrett carded a 77 in the morning round and his 148 total is tied for 25th place to lead the Aggies.
Also for A&M, sophomore Stephen Reed is tied for 38th at 77-73=150, senior Shaun Helmle is tied for 46th at 75-76=151, freshman Rand Arbuckle is tied for 59th at 79-75=154 and senior Josh McCoy is in 76th place at 81-85=166.
No. 10-ranked Florida, the defending national champion, leads the tournament with rounds of 292-273=565, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Kentucky's 289-290=579. TCU is in third at 580, followed by North Florida (582), Ohio State (582), North Carolina State (588), LSU (590), Mississippi (592), Florida State (600), South Florida (600), Rhode Island (602), College of Charleston (602), A&M (603), Georgia State (612) and Central Florida (617).
Florida's Camilo Villegas carded a course record 62 in the second round after carding a 73 in the morning and his 135 total leads the individual standings by four strokes over teammate Bubba Dickerson, the reigning U.S. Amateur champion who carded rounds of 70-69=139, and Ohio State's Justin Collins (68-71=139).
