Big 12 Special Order Sports, FOX Sports Net's pay-per-view division, will produce and distribute on a pay-per-view basis the Nov. 3 Texas A&M-Texas Tech college football game to participating cable and satellite television systems in Texas. Suggested retail price is $24.95. Kickoff is 1 p.m. (CST) from Jones SBC Stadium in Lubbock.
The game became available for pay-per-view distribution because it was not selected for over-the-air broadcast, syndication or cable television coverage. Under conference TV rules, games not picked up for regular television distribution can only be televised on pay-per-view in the states of the participating schools.
"We're giving fans an option to watch a game that they otherwise wouldn't be able to see on television at an affordable price," said FOX Sports Net Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke. "We want to give as many Texas A&M and Texas Tech fans as possible an opportunity to watch their team."
Satellite providers DirecTV and Dish Network are exploring pay-per-view carriage of the game. A list of participating cable systems and satellite television distributors will be announced early next week. Participating television outlets will offer the telecast to their customers on a specially designated pay-per-view channel. The telecast will not pre-empt FOX Sports Net's regularly scheduled programming.
The game will be telecast on a delayed basis throughout FOX Sports Net's Southwest region (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and parts of New Mexico) on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. (CST).
