The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the 14th annual Taylor Made Red River Classic Monday and Tuesday at Dallas Athletic Club.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Play begins at 8:15 a.m. on Monday and at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The par-72 Dallas Athletic Club measures 6,766 yards.
In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes Arizona, Houston, Ohio State, Southern California, Brigham Young, Kent State, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Duke, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Texas and Washington. Southern California is the defending champion.
Representing A&M will be sophomore Stephen Reed (Houston), senior Sean Gilliland (Killeen), freshman Tyler Garrett (Houston), freshman Rand Arbuckle (College Station) and senior Josh McCoy (Perryton). Garrett will be making his college debut.
"The Red River Shootout is always a lot of fun," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We get the chance to play against a great field on a course where we can score and make some birdies. It is also very competitive and challenging in that their are some terrific teams competing. We will have to play at a much higher level than we did in Albuquerque if we want to challenge for the title."
The Aggies finished 14th in their season opener at the Tucker Invitational last month in Albuquerque.
