The 15th-ranked Texas A&M volleyball team hits the road Monday for a match against the Oklahoma Sooners. Match time is 7 p.m. at the Howard McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla.
A&M is 19-4 overall and in second place in the Big 12 after defeating Iowa State, 30-20, 30-21, 30-26, in College Station on Saturday. Oklahoma, 2-26, 1-14, is coming off a 30-17, 30-16, 30-15 loss at Texas Tech.
A&M owns a 17-match winning streak against the Sooners and is 20-1 overall against OU since the teams first met in 1976. Oklahoma, which is 0-7 against the Aggies in Norman, has not defeated A&M since Sept. 15, 1979.
The Aggies are 11-0 against the Sooners in Big 12 play, including a 30-23, 30-24, 30-23 victory in College Station on Oct. 31. Tara Pulaski led the Aggies with a career-high .600 with 10 kills and a match-high five blocks. Also in double figures for the Aggies were Brandi Mount (11) and Erin Lechler (10). Christina Barlow led Oklahoma with a match-high 15 kills and Logan Pierce added 12.
The match on Monday, originally slated for September 12 but postponed because of the terrorist attacks, is the first of a busy week for the Aggies as they play three matches in five days with two of the matches being on the road. On Wednesday the Aggies return home to host the Kansas Jayhawks and then conclude the week with a trip to Manhattan, Kan., on Saturday for a crucial showdown against No. 25 Kansas State.
