Tyler Kief (Kingwood, Texas), Kyle Nathan (Winnetka, Ill.), Andrew Parr (London, Ontario), Mike Rim (Lakewood, Calif.) and Pansing Singhaseni (Beverly Hills, Calif.) have signed national letters-of-intent to play college golf at Texas A&M, first-year Aggies coach J.T. Higgins said Thursday.
Kief (Kingwood HS) is regarded as one of the top junior players in the Houston area and has posted three top 20 finishes in American Junior Golf Association events. Nathan (New Trier HS) was the 2000 Illinois Junior Player of the Year and won the 2000 PGA Illinois Junior title.
Parr (Oakridge Secondary School) earned honorable mention All-America honors last summer by the AJGA after winning the FutureLinks Junior and finishing second at the Eastern Canadian Junior. Rim (Sunny Hills HS) also earned AJGA honorable mention All-America honors and won the 2001 Buick Junior Open. He has posted seven top 20 finishes in national events.
Singhaseni (Beverly Hills HS) earned honorable mention All-America honors in 2000 and won the 2000 Arizona Junior Classic. He has posted five top 20 finishes in AJGA events, including a pair of top five performances.
"For us to sign three junior All-Americans at this point in our program is a big step for us," Higgins said. "We really felt it was important to increase the competition within the team, and I feel we have filled that need. We also added a lot of length off the tee which should help improve our scoring on par fives and long par fours which has also been a weakness on our team so far this season. Overall, this is a strong recruiting class with all five players capable of making an immediate impact on the team next year."
