Texas A&M senior center Seth McKinney was named one of five finalists for the Dave Rimington Trophy by the Boomer Esiason Foundation on Monday. The award is presented annually to the the nation's premier college football center.

Joining McKinney as a finalist were: LeCharles Bentley of Ohio State, Mel Fowler of Maryland, Kyle Young of Clemson and Brett Romberg of Miami (Fla.).

McKinney has started every possible game of his career for the 7-4 Aggies and is just the fifth center to start four straight seasons at a Div. I-A school. McKinney, who is from Austin, Texas, will start the 50th game of his career when the Aggies play their bowl game later this month. McKinney is a two-time first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection and was a third-team All-America pick last season.

The winner of the Rimington Trophy will be honored at a presentation banquet in Lincoln, Neb., on Dec. 15. Rimington, the award's namesake, was a two-time consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska and was the recipient of the Outland Trophy in 1981 and 1982 as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
