Texas A&M's Bernard King has been honored as a second-team National Association of Basketball Coaches/Chevrolet Division I All-District 9 selection for the second straight year, as selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. In addition, teammate Nick Anderson has been named to the Big 12's All-Freshman Team by a panel of media members covering the league.
King ranks second in the Big 12 Conference in scoring with an 18.4 average in league play and also averaged 18.4 for the season. His 534 points this season is the 10th most in A&M history. Against Baylor last week, he passed the 1,000-point mark for his career, the first sophomore in A&M history and only the 13th ever from a Big 12 school to reach the milestone. King is one of only three Division I players to average at least 18.0 points and 4.7 assists per game (4.9).
The NABC selected 150 student-athletes from 15 districts, all of whom are now eligible for the NABC/Chevrolet Division I All-American Team which will be announced at the conclusion of the season.
Anderson ranked second on the team in scoring in Big 12 play with 10.8 per game, second only yo Iowa State's Jake Sullivan among the league's freshmen.
