
Aggies Rally from Behind for 38-24 Win over Cowboys

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP)-- Mark Farris ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as Texas A&M overcame a 16-point deficit to beat McNeese State 38-24 tonight.
The Aggies were surprised in the first half when two miscues by Farris helped the Division I-AA Cowboys take a 16-0 lead. McNeese led 16-10 at the half.
Slade Nagle completed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Hamilton with 12:04 to go in the third quarter, stretching the Cowboys' lead to 24-10 before Farris and the Aggies rallied, aided by two interceptions by safety Sammy Davis.
Farris faked a handoff and ran 11 yards for a touchdown with 9:27 left in the third quarter.
On the first play after a 26-yard interception return by Davis, Farris hit Terrence Murphy with a 16-yard touchdown pass, knotting the score at 24 with 5:27 left in the third quarter.
Davis got another interception that set up an 8-yard run by Farris with 12:21 left in the game.
Linebacker Christian Rodriguez returned an interception 11 yards for a touchdown with 4:42 left to ice it for the Aggies.
Farris fumbled on the Aggies' first drive and linebacker Brad Archie scooped it up for a 55-yard touchdown return with 11:36 to go in the first quarter.
The extra point failed, but McNeese made it 9-0 on a 45-yard field goal by Charlie Hebert in the first quarter. Safety Joe Judge picked off a pass by Farris and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown and a 16-0 lead with 9:27 left in the half.
The Aggies rallied with 10 second-quarter points on a 1-yard run by Joe Weber and a 44-yard field goal on the final play of the half by punter Cody Scates, forced into field-goal duty when place-kicker Chris Sims decided to give up football because of a lower back injury.
