Freshman Daryl Mason has agreed to leave the Texas A&M basketball team and continue his college career elsewhere, Aggies coach Melvin Watkins said Thursday.

"After further evaluation of Daryl's situation and through conversations with him and his parents, we've decided it would be best for Daryl and for our program that he continue his career at another school," Watkins said. "We feel this decision is in the best interest of our program as well as for him and we wish him well."

A 6-foot-6 guard from Bryan, Texas, Mason was suspended from the team prior to the Big 12 Conference opener at Oklahoma on Jan. 5 and missed the next seven games. He returned to action against Baylor on Sunday but did not score in just 10 minutes of playing time. Mason did not play against Texas on Wednesday night.

Mason played in 13 games this season, starting in four, and averaged 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds.
