Texas A&M sophomore Stephen Reed carded a four-under-par 68 in cold, windy conditions on Monday and is tied for the individual lead after the first round of the Coastal carolina Invitational at Grand Dunes Resort.

Reed's effort helped A&M to a first-round team score of two-over-par 290, just one shot behind leader Washington State (289). Originaly scheduled to play 36 holes on the opening day, the 17-team field will complete the second 18 holes on Tuesday morning and then play the final 18 holes immediately following.

Reed blistered the back nine with a three-under-par 33 to tie Washington State's Dustin White for the individual lead. Matt Davidson (Furman), Brendon De Jonge (Virginia Tech), Jody Todd (Belmont Abbey), Tyler McKeever (Georgia Southern) and Ken Lewis (Vanderbilt) are tied for third three strokes back.

Also for A&M, junior Dwayne Morley, making his first appearance of the spring, carded an even-par 72 and is tied for eighth in the individual standings, while sophomore Parker Briley and freshman Tyler Garrett posted 75s. Senior Sean Gilliland had a 78 to round out A&M's scoring.

Coastal Carolina leads a group of three schools tied for third at 299.
