The Texas A&M football team opened spring drills on Monday and ended practice with a "perfect" drill.

"That last part of practice was based more on execution," Aggie Head Coach R.C. Slocum said. "We put them through some agility drills and get them gassed, and then say, it's the fourth quarter and you're dog-tired, now you've got to execute to win the game. If they don't execute perfectly on a series, we go back to zero and start over."

Coach Slocum announced some personnel changes as well with running back Keith Joseph moving to fullback, wide receiver Dwain Goynes moving to tailback and Richard Whitaker moving to defensive back.

"Dwain (Goynes) is the fastest guy on the team and he played tailback in high school," Slocum said. "We're trying to balance our players where we can get some depth and get the best use out of our players. Joe Weber is a guy who could play both fullback and tailback."

"This was a good start," Slocum added. "It was a fun day and the guys pushed through it."

Linebacker Jared Morris and defensive back Jonte' Buhl did not participate in drills on Monday due to injuries.

Two true freshman participated in drills as defensive lineman Johnny Jolly from Houston Forest Brook and offensive lineman Brandon Flanagan from Haughton, Lousiana, took part in practice. Flanagan has the largest shoes (size 20) of any Aggie football player since Billy Pickard has been around Aggie football equipment (1972).

The Aggies will workout on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. The Maroon & White Game is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 6 with kickoff at 1:30 p.m. Texas A&M will end spring drills on Friday, Apr. 12.
