The Texas A&M men's golf team struggled in cold, wet conditions and carded a first-round 318 on Monday at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at Austin Country Club.
The completion of Monday's second round was postponed because of darkness. The round will be finished Tuesday morning, immediately followed by the final round.
Brigham Young leads the team standings after posting a one-over-par 289 on the par-72, 6,906 golf course. Oklahoma is second at 293, followed by Texas (294), Oklahoma State (295), North Florida (297), SMU (298), Houston (299), Pepperdine (299), Northwestern (300), Southern California (301), Fresno State (302), TCU (303), New Mexico (305), UNLV (314) and A&M (318).
SMU's Brock Mulder leads the individual standings after firing a four-under-par 68, two strokes ahead of a group of three players at 70.
Senior Sean Gilliland led the Aggies with a 75, while junior Dwayne Morley, sophomore Parker Briley and freshman Tyler Garrett each posted an 81. Sophomore Stephen Reed added an 82.
"We played our worst round of the year," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We let the weather conditions affect not only our golf, but how we handled ourselves. It got the best of us. We'll work on that on Tuesday and hopefully play a little bit better."
