Texas A&M's Bethel Johnson has been selected to participate in the 2002 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference May 26-30 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Johnson, a senior wide receiver on the Aggie football team from Corsicana, Texas, was one of 296 student-athletes selected from nearly 1,200 applicants from universities around the nation to take part in the conference titled "Today's Student-Athletes, Tomorrow's Leaders."
"This is a tremendous blessing and a great opportunity," Johnson said. "It's an opportunity to represent Texas A&M and meet people from all over the country."
Associate Athletic Director for Academic Affairs Steve McDonnell said, "This is quite an honor for Bethel, and a tremendous opportunity. He will be interacting and networking with close to 300 other student-athlete leaders for five days. I think Bethel is one of our campus' emerging leaders and this will be a great learning experience for him."
Other nominees from Texas A&M were: Kristin Milchanowski from the archery team, Kim Moore from the women's basketball team and Chris Nelan from the men's swim team.
