The Texas A&M men's golf team closes its 2001-02 season Saturday and Sunday at The Maxwell at Dornick Hills Country Club.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Saturday and a final 18 holes on Sunday for a 54-hole total. Play begins at 8 a.m. each day. The Maxwell has a unique format in which all five players from each team play together as a fivesome.
In addition to A&M, the 11-team tournament includes No. 5-ranked Texas, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 15 Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, Houston, North Texas, SMU, Tulsa and Texas Tech.
Representing A&M will be sophomore Stephen Reed, senior Sean Gilliland, junior Dwayne Morley, sophomore Mark Schultz and freshman Rand Arbuckle.
"The Maxwell is always a great event and Dornick Hills is a terrific venue," said head coach J.T. Higgins, who is ending his first season at A&M. "The field is always strong and we usually have good weather. It should be a lot of fun for us. Besides giving us an extra week of practice to prepare for next year, we also get to play together as a fivesome. It will be a great opportunity to work with all five players on course management and strategy."
