Texas A&M sophomore Stephen Reed finished sixth on Monday in the U.S. Open local qualifier at Club Carlton Woods, and will advance to the sectional qualifier June 3-4.
Reed carded a two-over-par 74 to earn one of seven qualifying spots at Carlton Woods. Brad Lardon of Austin won the qualifier with an even-par 72.
Reed has led the Aggies in scoring the last two seasons.
Former A&M All-American Ryan Palmer also qualified, finishing fourth on Monday with a two-under-par 70 at San Antonio Country Club to earn one of five sectional berths.
The U.S. Open will be played June 13-16 at Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in Farmingdale, N.Y.
