The Texas A&M football team continued training for the upcoming season Tuesday at the grass practice fields near Kyle Field.
The team wore shorts and shoulder pads during the lone afternoon workout and coach R.C. Slocum said the players are making good progress in developing as a team.
"I just told the team that I think they are making good progress in developing as a team," Slocum said. "As coaches, we have not had to deal with distractions and we are seeing good attitudes on the practice field."
A&M senior defensive lineman Ty Warren, who hails from Bryan, Texas, has been named to the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy watch lists for the upcoming season.
"I'm proud that Ty (Warren) has received this recognition," Slocum said. "He's got high expectations for this year and I don't think that he has reached his full potential as a player. I'm looking forward to watching his senior year progress."
Warren was recently ranked the No. 7 defensive tackle it the nation by Lindy's and the No. 11 defensive end in the nation by The Sporting News. He also was named preseason honorable mention All-America by Street & Smith's.
The Outland Trophy is presented by the Football Writers Association of America to the top interior lineman each season. The Lombardi Award is presented by the Rotary Club of Houston to the top college lineman. Former A&M inside linebacker Dat Nguyen received the Lombardi Award in 1998.
