The Texas A&M football team practiced in full pads during their lone workout Thursday at the grass practice fields near Kyle Field.
Under cloudy skies, and with pleasant temperatures, the Aggies used the first 30 minutes of the workout for a controlled scrimmage.
"It was good, real good," Slocum said. "There was good contact. It was our first time to go full contact and I thought we showed enthusiasm on both sides of the ball."
Highlighting the drill was senior running back Dwain Goynes who sprinted around the right side and down the sideline for a 70-yard touchdown.
"(Goynes) is going to help us," Slocum said. "I'm excited about him. He's come out here and picked up right where he left off in the spring."
Among those missing part of the workouts on Thursday were sophomore running back Derek Farmer, and sophomore tight end Joey Perot.
"Farmer has a bruise on the top of his foot and he's going to be a couple of days," Slocum said. "Joey Perot left with a shoulder injury."
The Aggies will practice on Friday at 7:50 a.m. to 9 a.m., 10 a.m. to 11:25 a.m., and again at 5:40 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All practices are open to the public and will be held at the grass practice facility. Fans should check for the specific practice schedule daily on AggieAthletics.com.
