The No. 23-ranked Texas A&M football drilled for two hours in full pads on Monday in preparation for Saturday's season-opener against Louisiana-Lafayette at Kyle Field.

Starting quarterback Mark Farris, who has been bothered by a sore arm, threw some passes on Monday, but didn't participate at full-speed.

"He was able to throw it and he said he felt good, but I didn't want to test it," A&M head coach R.C. Slocum said. "He got it loose, but he didn't gun it."

Slocum added, "We have to be prepared for the possibility that Mark won't be able to play on Saturday. If he's not 100 percent, we wouldn't play him."

Another starter, wide receiver Jamaar Taylor, missed Monday's workout.

"I'm worried about him. I would say he's questionable (for the La.-Lafayette game)," Slocum said. "He hasn't practiced in a long time and I don't how quickly he could get ready. If he's not at full speed, we'll hold him out too."

The Aggies will take on the Ragin' Cajuns in a 6 p.m. clash at Kyle Field on Saturday.
