| --Sophomore volleyball player Kendra Felder will share her thoughts on the season, and other things, with us each week in AggieAthletics.com's player diary segment. August 29, 2002 Well, I am happy to report that the Aggie Volleyball team is off to an amazing start! After finally completing three weeks of double days, we finally got to show what we have mysteriously been up to in G. Rollie White. We worked extremely hard this pre-season, trying to "mesh" our individual talents into one team, and focus on making a name for ourselves. A lot of people have asked me, "So, how is the team looking this year, do you think you will make it?" And for some reason I get this feeling that they are wondering how we'll do without last year's seniors. They are amazing girls with amazing volleyball talent, probably some of the best talent in the nation. But, sadly enough, they are gone and it is our time to shine. So with that in mind, we took to the floor with a new outlook and a new goal. Not to say that the goal isn't to go far in the NCAA Tournament, but it is to go far with our new team. And with the amazing coaching and leadership on the team, I know we can do it. Now, onto the freshmen. I feel so blessed to have them on the team, and I know that the returnees feel the same way. They not only bring depth physically, but their personalities are great. What I was so surprised with was how they automatically jumped right in there and they didn't hold back at all, on and off the court. I remember last year, when I first arrived, I was so shy and timid (which isn't like me) I probably would have kissed the upperclassmen's feet if they asked me to. Well, not so much...but you get my point. I can tell that they want to be here and are ready to work hard to make the team that much better, which is very exciting. The preseason was hard, but when I look back, I just remember what we went through and remember that we did it for a reason: to achieve our ultimate goal. We still have a long but exciting road ahead of us and I can not wait for what the future holds. |
