| Freshman outside hitter Laura Jones talked with AggieAthletics.com about her first month at Texas A&M, being a freshman and attending her first Aggie football game.
You've been here about a month or so. Has being in college volleyball been what you expected? "Yeah, it's a lot of fun, but very hard work though. It's so hard to be here all the time. We've been talking about how it feels like we haven't stopped since we got here. It's a whole lot different than home. It's fun though." It's early, but have you adjusted to being away from home? "Actually I have. I haven't really been homesick or anything so it's been good. My parents came up here for the game the other day and I was glad to see them." Did getting to play on the USA Junior National Team help prepare you for some of the things you'll see in college? "It will. That's basically the same as college two-a-days, because for a long period of time you're playing from when you wake up until you go to bed. That helped a little bit." Are all the freshmen fitting in well on the team? "We're doing well. The team is very open-minded and we get along well. The chemistry is pretty good on this team." Are you looking forward to your first road trip this weekend? "I think it will be a lot of fun to go up north and see another part of the country. Some of our girls went and bought some new clothes. They think it's going to be really cold. But Carol (Price - from Michigan) tells us differently, because she knows." How was your first day of classes? "It was fine, like I expected really. They say it's so different from high school and it is, but I expected it to be the way it was." Did you make the football game Saturday? "Yes." Had you been to one before that? "No, it was my first A&M game." What did you think? "It was cool. We left early though because we couldn't stand up that long (laughs)." |
