No. 17 Texas A&M swept the University of Montreal, 30-19, 30-15, 30-16, as part of an exhibition match at the Wisconsin InnTowner Invitational this afternoon at the Wisconsin Field House.

A&M outhit the Carabins .298 to -.066 for the match. Melissa Munsch led the Aggies with match-highs of eight kills, a .533 hitting percentage and 11 digs. A.D. Achilefu posted a match-high five blocks, as A&M outblocked Montreal, 11-2.

A&M built a 12-7 lead to open the match, but Montreal chipped away and tied the score at 14. After a kill by Aggie setter Lexy Beers, Montreal scored three consecutive points for its only lead of the match. The Carabins were ahead, 18-16, when A&M rallied for five unanswered points and regained the lead. Tara Pulaski contributed two of her five kills of the game and teamed for a block during the run.

The Aggies led 21-19 before finishing the game with nine consecutive points, including a block by Achilefu and Carol Price for the game winner.

A&M built an 18-12 lead in the second stanza before breaking open the game with six unanswered points. The Aggies were up 26-15 when Kendra Felder put down back-to back kills and posted a block to put A&M at game point. Munsch then served an ace to end the game.

The Aggies quickly pulled away in the third game, jumping out to a 17-5 lead. The Carabins cut the lead to seven at 20-13 but could not get any closer. With A&M up 26-16, the Aggies finished out the game by rallying for four points, the game-winning point courtesy of a kill by Munsch following an overpass by Montreal.

All matches against Montreal are exhibitions as competition against foreign teams do not count towards a team?â„¢s record.

The Aggies (4-0) resume play Friday with a match against Illinois State at 10 a.m. and then conclude the tournament against No. 16 Wisconsin at 7 p.m. The contest against the Badgers will be a rematch of the 2001 NCAA Regional semifinal match. The Aggies upset then-No.6 Wisconsin, 3-0, to advance to the regional final.
