The Texas A&M men's basketball team will have at least 15 games televised in the 2002-03 season, including seven by the new Lone Star Series, A&M coach Melvin Watkins said Friday.
Watkins also announced several change and additions to the non-conference schedule, which was released in June. The Texas-San Antonio home game, originally scheduled for Dec. 14, will be played at 2 p.m. on Dec. 15, while the Louisiana-Monroe home game, originally scheduled for Dec. 21, will be played at 3 p.m. on Dec. 22. The road game at Prairie View on Dec. 7 also has been changed from a 7:30 p.m. to a 3:30 p.m. tipoff.
The Aggies will meet LSU in the opening game of the Space City Basketball Classic at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 in Houston's Reliant Stadium. The other two games in the one-day event will pit Texas against Seton Hall at 4 p.m., followed by Baylor vs. Houston at 7 p.m. The A&M-LSU game will be televised by the Lone Star Network. LSN also will televise A&M's Dec. 4 home game against Tennessee, with game time remaining at 7 p.m.
Pairings also have been released for the Cable Car Classic Dec. 27-28 in Santa Clara, Calif. The Aggies will play Princeton in the first round at 8:30 p.m. (Pacific), then will meet Mississippi Valley or host Santa Clara at either 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.
Eleven of the Aggies' 16 conference games will be televised. The Aggies open Big 12 Conference play at home against Oklahoma State on Jan. 11 on Fox Sports Net Southwest. The Big 12 Tournament will be March 13-16 at American Airlines Arena in Dallas. The first six Big 12 Tournaments were played at Kemper Arena in Kansas City.
