The Texas A&M men?s golf team will compete in the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday for a 54-hole total on the par-72, 7,491-yard layout, which will be the site of the 2003 NCAA Central Regional.
In addition to A&M, the 12-team field will consist of host Kansas State, Colorado, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri, Nebraska, Rice, SMU, Toledo, Tulsa and Texas-San Antonio.
Representing A&M will be junior Stephen Reed, freshman Pansing Singhaseni, freshman Andrew Parr, senior Shaun Helmle and freshman Mike Rim. A&M coach J.T. Higgins said junior David Tasker, the team?s top scorer through two fall tournaments with a 72.83 scoring average, will not make the trip because of disciplinary reasons.
"Colbert Hills is the site of regionals and this will give us an early look at the course and a chance to gain some knowledge of the course," Higgins said. "I'm excited about taking so many young guys and seeing what they can do. We'll also get a closer look at some of the other teams in our region."
