The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the Adams Cup of Newport Tuesday and Wednesday at Newport National Golf Club.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Tuesday and 18 holes on Monday for a total of 54 holes.
In addition to A&M, the 17-team field includes Connecticut, East Carolina, East Tennessee, Furman, Georgia, Georgia State, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Michigan State, Mississippi, Rhode Island, South Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Yale.
Representing the Aggies will be juniors Stephen Reed and David Tasker, freshmen Andrew Parr and Mike Rim and senior Shaun Helmle. Helmle is coming off a second-place finish at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate last week in Manhattan, Kan.
"We have played good golf at times, but we haven't been as consistent as we would like to be," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "This is a good tournament that gives us an opportunity to see where we are at as we continue our fall schedule."
