Texas A&M senior defensive end Ty Warren was named to the Midseason All-America football team by CollegeFootballNews.com. Warren is the only defensive player from the Big 12 Conference on the squad.
Warren, from Bryan High School, has been a disruptive defensive force for the Aggies this fall. The 6-foot-4, 308-pound Warren leads the A&M defensive front in tackles with 33 after six games, and he's among the team leaders in quarterback sacks (2-for-10 yards), tackles for losses (8-for-22 yards) and quarterback pressures (3). He's also contributed a forced fumble and blocked a field goal attempt.
"Ty Warren is having an All-American year," Head Coach R.C. Slocum said. "He has been a force on the defensive line and causes a great deal of havoc for opposing offenses."
Warren is a main cog in the Texas A&M defense, which is ranked No. 12 nationally in total defense (284.8 yards allowed per game) and No. 4 nationally in rushing defense (75.3 yards allowed per game). The Aggie defense hasn't allowed a 100-yard individual rusher in 19 consecutive games.
