The Texas A&M men's golf team carded opneing rounds of 291-288=579 on Monday and is tied for 11th place at the Barona Collegiate Cup at Barona Creek Golf Club.
The Aggies three-over-par total trails tournament leader Denver by 20 strokes going into Tuesday's final round. Host San Diego State and Brigham Young are tied for second at 565, followed by California (569), No. 6-ranked New Mexico (570), San Diego State Red (571), Fresno State (573), Colorado State (573), Texas-El Paso (577), Ohio State (577), A&M (579), Nevada (579), Louisville (579), Washington State (583), UNC-Greenboro (586), Texas-San Antonio (588) and Hawaii (599).
Denver's Shawn Wills (67-68=135) and California's Peter Tomasulo (66-69=135) share the individual lead at nine-under-par on the par-72, 7,048-yard course.
Freshman Andrew Parr leads the Aggies with a four-under-par total of 72-68=140 and is tied for 10th place. Also for A&M, juniors Stephen Reed (72-72=144) and David Tasker (69-75=144) are tied for 25th, senior Shaun Helmle (78-73=151) is tied for 73rd and sophomore Tyler Garrett (80-75=155) is tied for 84th.
