Andrew Parr led the Texas A&M Men's Golf team to an eighth place finish by carding a three under 69 today at the Barona Collegiate Cup at Barona Creek Golf Club. Parr finished at seven under par with 211 total points, good for fifth place individually.
San Diego State won their own tournament title with a 54-hole total of 846. Six strokes better than runner up Denver University (852) who led going in to the final day. Rounding out the top ten was Colorado State and Brigham Young in third place (854), followed by New Mexico (857), California (858), Ohio State (861), and Texas A&M (864). UTEP and SDSU's Red Team (866) finished tied for tenth place.
The eighth place finish by the Aggies was their second top ten finish of the fall season, and one that pleased Head Coach J.T. Higgins.
"We finished the fall with some very good performances," Higgins said. "We hope we can build on this and go in to the spring with some added confidence."
Following Parr's lead (72-68-69=209), junior David Tasker tied for 17th (69-75-70=214), junior Stephen Reed tied for 27th place (72-72-72=217), senior Shaun Helme finished tied for 64th place (78-73-73=224), while Sophomore Tyler Garrett finished tied for 80th place (80-75-75=230).
