| --Sophomore volleyball player Kendra Felder will share her thoughts on the season, and other things, with us each week in AggieAthletics.com's player diary segment. November 20, 2002 The aggie volleyball team has been doing some awesome things lately. I am so proud of the team for coming out of our slump and getting five straight wins! I think the highlight games were against Missouri and Kansas. Having already beat Kansas here in G. Rollie, we didn't necessarily have the advantage of being the underdogs, instead we had to hold our ground and let them know that we have done it once and we can do it again. They have definitely improved since the last time we played them and the fact that they had us in their gym made it harder. The atmosphere there is like no other place we have to play at. Inside, it sends us back to high school with its small and compact structure. It feels like the fans are practically on top of you. It definitely plays a factor in whether or not you can hear yourself think. The game itself was so amazing, especially the fourth, 30-16!!! WHOOOOOOP!! The best part was they really put a beating to us the third game, but did we get down and keep our tail between our legs? No way! We bit back. The Missouri game was the same way, we fought until the fifth game and didn't let go. Revenge moreso motivated us than anything. It was funny because it felt like it was a high school playoff game, like it would send us to the state playoffs or something. We were definitely ready to take them on. Now with K-State, it was a different story. I kind of felt like I blinked and it was over. We lost, a brick smacked me in the face. Luckily I really didn't get hit with a brick, but the loss definitely hurt. After working so hard the past weeks to get out and stay out of our slump and continue on our winning streak, the plague snuck back in and let us know it was still lurking around. So, with that in mind, we are determined to fight it off completely for good. We decided that the attitudes across the net were totally different for that match and they simply wanted it more than we did. That's how they played. Tara Pulaski mentioned in one of our meetings that the balls that we hit or tip that go down on most of the other teams, none of them worked against K-State. They fought for everything and it definitely worked out in their favor. So here is the game plan....win the next three, get into the NCAA's and hopefully, Lord willing, host a tournament. We definitely will have to work hard for the next three. Us, Texas, and Tech are all looking for a position in the tournament so each game will be intense and exciting. I am looking forward to seeing the changes and decisions we have made make our dream come alive. We only have one more home game against Texas and that is right before Thanksgiving. We need your support more than anything, you fans definitely play a HUGE factor in intimidating the opponent. And the band does a wonderful job at it too. I hope to see you all at the match! Thank you all for your support! S.T.N.!!!
