RECORD-SETTING OFFENSE --- The 2002 edition of the Texas A&M offense shattered two significant records and ranks as one of the most prolific in school history.
The 2002 Aggies became the first unit in school history to pass for more than 3,000 yards with 3,021 yards going into the Texas contest. The former record was 2,691 yards by the Kevin Murray-led A&M offense in 1986. A&M has also tossed 23 scoring passes in 2002 which breaks the 20-year old mark of 21 set by the Gary Kubiak-led Aggies in 1982. Going into the Texas game, the Aggies are averaging 390.6 yards per game, which ranks No. 7 in school history.

A&M'S AERIAL ATTACK --- The Aggies found a consistent and dangerous passing attack in 2002 and go into the regular season finale ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 in passing offense. It's the highest ranked passing offense since the Aggies led the Southwest Conference in 1986. Despite having three different quarterbacks make starts, including two who made their first career starts, the Aggies average 274.6 passing yards per game, a distant second to Texas Tech (383.1) but nearly 25 yards more than the Big 12's No. 3 passing team.

BIG PLAY RECEIVERS --- Few teams have receivers who can match the big play production of the Aggies' top four receivers - tight end Greg Porter and wideouts Jamaar Taylor, Bethel Johnson and Terrence Murphy.
The foursome has combined for 37 plays of 20 yards of more, which represents 76 percent of the team's "big plays."
The group has posted 156 catches, 2,606 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging 16.7 yards per reception. The foursome is responsible for nearly 62 percent of the Aggies' offensive production in 2002.

BACK IN ACTION, BETTER THAN EVER --- Sidelined by a ruptured spleen for the majority of the 2001 season, senior Bethel Johnson has made a triumphant return to the gridirion in 2002.
The senior from Corsicana has been the Aggies' top deep threat while tying A&M's 34-year old season receiving touchdowns record of eight (set by Bob Long in 1967 and 1968). Johnson leads the team with a 18.2 per catch average while ranked No. 3 in catches with 38 and No. 2 in receiving yards with 693.
He's also solidified the Aggies' punt return situation with an impressive 12.9 return average.

In those red zone opportunities, the Aggies have scored 20 touchdowns (7 run, 13 pass) and booted six-of-six field goals. For the season, A&M has scored 84.4 percent of the time in the red zone (38-of-45, 15 run, 14 pass).
RECORD-BREAKING BETHEL --- Senior wide receiver Bethel Johnson is Texas A&M's all-time leading receiver in both receptions and receiving yards.
Johnson has grabbed 38 receptions for 693 yards in 2002 which brings his record-setting career totals to 115 catches for 1,715 yards. He also has school season record for receiving touchdowns with eight, giving him 11 scores for his career which is fourth-best in school history.

PASS-CATCHING PORTER --- With 45 catches for 640 yards and for touchdowns to his credit, Texas A&M senior tight end Greg Porter ranks No. 2 nationally in receptions by a tight end, just two behind Michigan's Bennie Joppru.
Earlier this season, Porter set the A&M tight end record with nine catches for 154 yards against Oklahoma State. The previous marks were eight catches by Rod Bernstine (twice in 1986) and Greg Schorp (in 1992) and 107 yards by Rich Siler (1983).
Porter's 2002 numbers are the best by any A&M tight end since Bernstine set the school record with 65 catches for 710 yards in 1986.

TAKEAWAYS PAYING OFF FOR AGGIES --- The Aggies have done a good job of making their opponents pay for their lost fumbles and interceptions. The Aggies have scored a whopping 103 points after a takeaway, but have limited their opponents to just 23 points after giving up a turnover.
TAYLOR EMERGES --- Junior wide receiver Jamaar Taylor has emerged as the Aggies' "go-to" receiver with three 100-yard receiving performances this season, but he's missed the past two games with an injury.
That matches the school record for single season 100-yard games set by Robert Ferguson in 1999. It also gives him four 100-yard days for his career which matches the career school record set by Albert Connell (1995-96), Tony Harrison (1990-93) and Bethel Johnson (1999- ).
Taylor is second on the team with 42 catches for team-leading 706 yards. His 78.4 receiving yards per game rank No. 5 in the Big 12 Conference and No. 38 nationally.

RECORD-SETTING LONG --- Sophomore Dustin Long has already made his mark in the A&M record book.
Long passed for a school record 399-yards against Kansas on Oct. 19. The previous week against Baylor, Long's addition to the record book was reaching the 1,000-yard mark in career passing yards in his sixth career game, which was the fastest in school history. The week before, Long threw a school and Big 12 record seven passing TDs against Texas Tech.
Long's 2,314 passing yards rank No. 5 in school history and his 117 passing touchdowns are tied for No. 2 in A&M history.
Long, who did not take a snap as a freshman in 2001, is the only A&M quarterback to see action in every game. He made eight straight starts at quarterback before freshman Reggie McNeal started against Missouri in the Aggies' most recent game.

- Slocum is 78-27-2 (.738) in conference games, 72-12-1 (.853) in games at Kyle Field and 46-25 (.649) in road games.
- Slocum, a four-time Coach of the Year, has led the Aggies to one Big 12 Conference crown, three SWC Championships, two Big 12 South Division titles and 11 bowl games, including five on Jan. 1st.
- Ten of Slocum's 13 teams have finished the season ranked in the Top 25.
- Slocum's teams compiled a 29-game SWC unbeaten streak running from 1991-95.
- This is the 30th year he has been associated with A&M football, the longest of any football coach in school history. He was an assistant from 1972-80 and once again from 1982-88, interrupted only by a one-year stint as defensive coordinator at USC in 1981.
- With the Aggies' win over Texas in 1997, Slocum became A&M's winningest head coach by passing Homer Norton, who posted 82 wins from 1934-47 and won the 1939 national championship.
- He closed out the Southwest Conference ranked as the No. 1 coach in SWC history in overall and SWC winning percentage.
