
Aggies Fall to Princeton in Cable Car Classic Opener

Sophomore guard Will Venable scored 21 points Friday to lead Princeton to a 76-62 victory over Texas A&M in the first round of Cable Car Classic.
Princeton (4-5) will face host Santa Clara in Saturday's championship game. Texas A&M (6-3) plays in the consolation against Mississippi Valley State.
Junior forward Spencer Gloger scored 19 points, making three of seven 3-point attempts. The Tigers made seven of 17 3-pointers, including six of 13 in the first half, when they seized control of the game.
Junior guard Kevin Turner led the Aggies with 18 points and freshman forward Antoine Wright added 15.
Princeton used a 19-3 run, scoring 11 straight at one point, to take command in the first half. Gloger scored 10 points in the stretch, hitting two 3-pointers.
The Tigers turned a 4-2 deficit into a 21-7 lead with 11:17 left in the first half. Princeton led by as many as 21 before taking a 44-26 halftime lead.
Texas A&M made a 14-4 run early in the second half, cutting the Princeton lead to 51-42 when Turner made a 3-pointer with 10:50 left in the game.
The Aggies trimmed the deficit to 59-51 with 4:47 remaining, but couldn't get any closer as Princeton scored the next seven points to put the game away.
