| --Senior softball player Selena Collins will share her thoughts on the season, and other things, with us each week in AggieAthletics.com's player diary segment. February 6, 2003 Today is the day we leave to go to my hometown-Phoenix, Arizona. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to go back home during the season for three out of my four years. Every year my immediate as well as my extended family all go over to my house to help my mom and dad cook for our team. Now, I must say that this is the meal that everyone looks forward to every year. We always have the same thing, because not only has it become a tradition when my family cooks for our team, but it is also the meal that everyone prefers. We always have shredded beef with tortillas, hot links, homemade refried beans, homemade Spanish rice, all kinds of desserts, and many other Mexican dishes as well as barbeque stuff. Now don't get me wrong...we go to this tournament for the games, but the food is not a bad idea either. So the highlight of Arizona is definitely the food and the fact that I get to see my family. This tournament will be a real test too! (We will) see where our team is right now at this point of the season. Although we have only played three games, it's nice to kind of see where we are with other ranked teams. I am really excited for this tournament in that we play great teams, and for the fact I get to see other players that I am great friends with. So I guess you can say that this tournament is definitely my favorite. Our team is off to a really great start this year. Our first games were a little shaky, but the last one was a lot better. We had people ripping the ball all through the lineup, so it was definitely great to see. This year is going to be challenging for me in that I know I will not see as many good pitches as I am used to. I know that a lot of teams will try to pitch around me so my patience is something that I will have to master. It's great to see that when they pitch around me, our team has other great batters to pitch to. To me that is uplifting. I look forward once again to this tournament and hopefully we will come back with some great wins. Good Luck AGS, beat the hell outta the Fiesta Bowl Classic! Whoop!
