Texas A&M Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione spoke to an overflow crowd of more than 600 people at the George Bush Presidential Library Center on Thursday, Feb. 6. Coach Fran was the inaugural speaker in the George Bush Library Issues Forum.
The Issues Forum, sponsored by the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation, is a new Library program aimed at featuring prominent experts in various fields to discuss issues that face our local community, the state, or the nation.
"This was a great opportunity for me to speak to a large and diverse group of individuals from our community," Coach Fran said. "I appreciate the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation inviting me to speak."
Coach Fran mentioned his strength is building a team and he shared some common characteristics found with any successful team, or business. Among those characteristics are: a postitive attitude; attention to detail; discipline; a strong work ethic; and an accountability to each other.
The audience was a great representation of the community with business leaders and former students as well as current Aggie students. Coach Fran took questions from the audience after his speech and then moved to a reception in the Library Rotunda to meet many of those who attended.
The Aggie football team will begin spring drills on March 18 and practices will be open to the public.
