| --Senior softball player Selena Collins will share her thoughts on the season, and other things, with us each week in AggieAthletics.com's player diary segment. February 18, 2003 Well we had a weekend of cold weather but at least we were able to play. It was supposed to rain all weekend but the rain held off just enough for us to get in our games. We hosted our tournament and although all did not go as planned we went 3-1 instead of 4-0 like we should have. It was ironic because Saturday night, some of us had hits that would have clearly been home runs, but the wind was blowing in, more to a pitchers advantage. Friday night, the wind was calm, but we were able to put hits together that allowed us to dominate teams. I guess that is the way it goes when you play an outside sport. Anyways, enough about mother nature. We play tomorrow against SWT and they should be a tough team to face as always. I don't think our team quite realizes it yet, but to many teams we are the team to beat. Ranked and unranked teams know that A&M has a tough team. We are no easy game! I think our team fails to realize how good we really can be. A great coach once told me, "You are only as strong as your weakest link", and I truly believe that. I believe that if more than one person on our team believes that we are a great team that can accomplish great things than it will become contagious. I also believe that when everyone learns to accept and take on their role on the team whatever it may be, they too will not be our weakest link but our strongest. It takes more pride to accept a role and step up to a challenge than to back down and lose sight of what this sport is all about and that is TEAM! My dad used to tell me to always remember that there is always someone out there wanting and working to take your position, so if you don't claim it and work hard for what you want then before you know it your spot is gone. So, to all the underclassmen, keep working hard and to all you non-freshmen, keep working, because remember: someone wants your spot!
