Junior center Andy Slocum has been reinstated to the Texas A&M men's basketball team, Director of Athletics Bill Byrne said Wednesday. Slocum has missed the last seven games after being suspended by Byrne on Jan. 20.
DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS BILL BYRNE: "In light of the university's decision not to pursue Andy's case any further since the charges against him were reduced to misdemeanors, I have decided to allow Andy to resume his participation with the men's basketball team."
HEAD COACH MELVIN WATKINS: "Andy has gone through the process with the judicial system and the university, and we are looking forward to getting him back on the court."
JUNIOR CENTER ANDY SLOCUM: "I appreciate Mr. Byrne and Coach Watkins agreeing to allow me to come back to the team. I apologize to our fans, the university and my team for the negative publicity my situation has caused and I'm looking forward to focusing my attention on school and basketball."
