Texas A&M Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione and the Aggie coaching staff will host a "Night of Champions", a weight lifting exhibition, which will be conducted on Thursday, Mar. 6 on the main floor of G. Rollie White Coliseum. The event will start at 7 p.m. and should last approximately one hour.
"The Night of Champions is a fun event and I hope we have an excellent turnout by our fans," Coach Fran said. "We've seen personal bests and school records occur in this event and the main reason is the crowd gets the players pumped up."
"Our strength and conditioning coaches, Mike Clark and Rick LaFavers, will select 16 players based on results from our off-season workouts," Coach Fran stated. "It is quite an honor to be selected for this event. The players who have set records, or are near records, and those who have worked the hardest are chosen. The rest of our team will be there to lend support and encouragement. This is max testing, one lift per player, and there are four lifts* the bench, the incline press, squat and the power clean."
The event is free of charge and seating will be in the seats above the main floor. Concession stands will be open in G. Rollie White and parking is available in the University Center parking garage across the street from G. Rollie White.
