The Texas A&M softball team, ranked No. 19 nationally, will take on the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at 6:30 but was changed earlier this season in order to allow fans the opportunity to attend both the softball and women's basketball games on Wednesday. The Texas A&M women's basketball team will be taking on Oklahoma State at Reed Arena, right across the street from the Aggie softball complex, at 7 p.m.
This will be the seventh time that Michigan and A&M have met on the softball diamond. The overall series record is split coming into the game as each team has won three times. Michigan began the year ranked in the top five as they made a trip to the Women's College World Series in 2002.
Texas A&M senior All-American Selena Collins will be looking to break the all-time career A&M home run mark of 34 that was set by Liz Mizera between 1985 and 1988. Collins came into the season with 27 home runs, just seven shy of tying the record, and has already hit six dingers this year leaving her one four-bagger short of the record. She has had a hot bat this season as her six homers and 16 RBI's are tops on the team.
Wednesday's game versus Michigan will be the last time the Aggies will play at home until March 22 and 23 when they host conference rival Nebraska. The Aggies leave Thursday for an 18 game road trip where they play in tournaments from Palo Alto, California to Miami Florida.
