The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete at the Louisiana Classics Monday and Tuesday at Oakbourne Country Club.

The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday for a total of 54 holes.

In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes Baylor, Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri, Rice, Texas-San Antonio, SMU, Tulsa, Kansas, North Texas, Southern Mississippi, LSU and host Louisiana-Lafayette.

Representing A&M will be junior David Tasker, junior Stephen Reed, senior Shaun Helmle, junior Parker Briley and freshman Andrew Parr. Tasker leads the Aggies in scoring with a 72.60 stroke average.

"This is an important tournament for our team and our program as a whole," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "Our goal this year is to qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships and we need to play well here against the teams from our district to make that possible. Historically, we've played well in Lafayette. We've had a great week of practice and the guys seem eager to play. If we play well, we can put ourselves in great position to make a run in the postseason."
