The Texas A&M men's golf team carded a final round of 294 on Tuesday and finished third at the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.

A&M junior Stephen Reed tied for second in the individual standings after rounds of 68-70-73=211, the highest finish of his career and his best 54-hole score.

SMU won the team title with rounds of 281-287-290=858, three strokes better than runner-up Tulsa (861). A&M finished third with scores of 290-284-294=868, followed by Baylor (874), Texas Tech (874), North Texas (879), Southern Mississippi (879), LSU (881), Rice (883), Louisiana-Lafayette (886), Missouri (887), Kansas State (889), Kansas (892), Colorado 9894) and Texas-San Antonio (894).

Tulsa'a David Inglis captured the individual crown with an eight-under-par total of 70-67-71=208, finishing three strokes ahead of Reed and Baylor's Ryan Baca (70-70-71=211). SMU's Will Dodson was fourth at 212.

A&M junior David Tasker also had a strong tournament, tying for ninth-place with rounds of 72-70-72=214, two-under-par on the par-72, 7,002-yard course. Also for A&M, senior Shaun Helmle tied for 32nd at 72-71-79=222, junior Parker Briley tied for 40th at 78-73-72=223 and freshman Andrew Parr finished 78th at 78-79-77=234.

"I was pretty pleased with how we played," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "Third place gives us something positive to build on. The more opportunities we have to be competitive going into the final round, the better we'll get. We were a little tense going into the round today, but overall they did a good job."
