The Texas A&M softball team (18-10) lost their second game of the day as they were defeated by Florida International 3-2 in an afternoon game of the Blue & Gold Classic in Miami.
The Aggies jumped out to an early two to nothing lead in the bottom of the first when Rocky Spencer and Selena Collins reached on singles and Adrian Gregory hit a triple to score her teammates. Junior right-hander Lindsay Wilhelmson (9-3) and the Aggie defense kept the Panthers at bay until the top of the fifth when FIU strung together a few hits and cut the Aggies lead in half. The Panthers went on to score single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings giving them the lead and eventually the win over the 20th ranked Aggies. The loss was the Ags second of the day as they dropped an earlier game to Massachusetts.
A&M will play again in the Blue & Gold Classic tomorrow at 2 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. (CST) against Florida Atlantic and Syracuse respectively.
